The brief for this commission was to extend the habitable area of the property whilst maintaining a sense of lightness and working in harmony with the existing structure.
The first step was to create a dormer with a part-pitched roof as an attractive loft conversion, which created a spacious family bedroom with en-suite shower room and a separate loft storage area. The access to the converted loft was via a purpose-made pine staircase with a skylight for natural daylight. The conversion added a contemporary twist to this traditional family home that has nonetheless blended seamlessly with the existing architecture.
Other work on this project included the remodelling of the first floor layout in order to incorporate a communal bathroom, and a single-storey rear extension, which has substantially increased the size of the living/dining area. The result was a modern, functional three-bedroom property, with an enhanced appearance and greater market value.
The scheme design required Planning Consent and technical drawings complete with specifications for Building Regulation consent. In addition, the full tender procurement and construction processes were managed.
