The extension to Hillbeck House Residential Care Home was divided into two Planning Consents that were acquired at separate stages.
Firstly, a two-storey rear extension that was to provide twelve additional bedrooms with walk in shower en-suites. This part of the extension allowed the home to take on additional residents and was built to the same high specifications of the existing building, and in the same style.
The second Planning Consent was for a single-storey octagonal side extension that was to be used as a quiet reading room. In this extension, the books are centrally located, with perimeter seating by the windows for natural day light, which gives residents the comfort of a library without isolating them from the company of their fellows. The reading room has become something of a highlight within the building and has been a welcome addition to the home.
The technical drawings and specifications for Building Regulation submission were also produced.
Over the years, I have had repeat work from this client including:
Chippendayle Lodge – Residential Care Home: Remodelling of the Front Entrance and part of the ground floor layout, as well as the conversion of a bungalow into six bedrooms with en-suites for special needs. New build for 24 bedrooms with walk in shower en-suites, a spacious day room and associated facilities (the gross floor area of which was around 1200 m²)
Rosewood – Residential Care Home: Remodelling of the roof to provide an additional 10 bedrooms with en-suites, quiet/day room and associated facilities
Woodside – Residential Care Home: Front extension to increase size of the day room
