An excess of unused land on the end of a small village shopping parade in South Kent prompted the owners to commission my services. It was decided that the best use of this land would be as residential housing, which would be easy to let thanks to its position in the centre of the local community.
The design scheme produced a two-bedroom, self-contained flat on the ground floor and another one-bedroom self-contained flat on the first floor within the roof void. These flats are spacious and modern, with a minimum of 80m² and 50m² floor areas respectively. The juxtaposition of the ‘homely’ residential flats with the traditional shopping parade provides an interesting contrast and has proved popular with locals. Additionally, the owners have been able to significantly increase the market value of the land, whilst creating an interim revenue source.
All of the required drawings and consultations for this substantial extension were provided in order to gain Planning and Building Regulation Consents.
Over the years, I have had repeat work from this client including:
Square Hill Road: Apartment Block as a new build for five two-bedroom flats and one three-bedroom penthouse, all with underground parking
Station Road: The conversion of an adjoining dwelling into two self-contained, two-bedroom flats
Station Road: House, two-storey side and single storey rear extensions
