Matts Hill Road
The Matts Hill Road project was a true delight to work on, as it involved designing and building a lavish family home from scratch and allowed me to exercise my creativity in conjunction with the client’s wishes.
The build took place on a two-acre plot in the countryside. The plot itself is within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and commands dramatic views of the countryside.
The brief included demolishing the existing bungalow and clearing the plot of all outbuildings, in order to make way for a new five-bedroom family home and a detached quadruple garage.
The gross floor area of the house is 640 m² including the cellar and 120 m² for the garage. The floor area of each room exceeded the Council’s minimum requirement for dwellings and each bedroom was designed with its own en-suite, dressing room and/or fitted wardrobes.
An elegant yet imposing design; this chalet style bungalow has a symmetrical front façade, but is asymmetrical on the plan, thanks to the asymmetrical rear elevation.
It combines traditional styles with modern detailing and was constructed using traditional and eco-friendly materials, including Air Source Heat Pumps for the heating and the supply of electricity.
NB External works (including landscaping, driveway etc) are still ongoing and the website will be updated with images in due course
